The Shocking Truth About Electrical & NG Safety

Like other fuels, natural gas can be burned to create heat. That’s how natural gas appliances work. A small flame or electronic spark is used to ignite a supply of natural gas. The burning natural gas creates the heat needed to cook your food, dry your clothes, and heat up your water. Because natural gas appliances involve a flame, it’s important to keep the area around them clean and litter free. It’s also important not to play on or around natural gas appliances or pipes. Stay Safe Around Gas Appliances

INVESTIGATE A NATURAL GAS ACCIDENT Find someone who has a story to tell, or find an article in the media, about an accident or a near miss involving natural gas. Answer these questions: Who told you the story? What was the headline of the article? Who was involved? What was the damage done (or almost done) by the accident? Did the person or the article describe safety precautions to prevent accidents like this? Can you think of any precautions that should have been taken?
