Stay Safe Around Electricity and Natural Gas

How Natural Gas Gets to Us

Natural gas, another form of energy, is buried under the earth. It is pumped up from wells drilled deep into the ground, and is delivered to homes and businesses through underground pipelines. Natural gas has many uses in and around the home, such as heating, cooking food, and drying clothes.

Natural Gas Math

If 5 wells are each drilled 5 miles deep, and 4 wells are each drilled 3 miles deep, how many total miles are drilled?

Bonus: If all the natural gas pipelines in the USA were stretched out in one continuous line, it would be long enough to circle the earth 120 times. The earth measures 25,000 miles around. How many miles of natural gas pipeline are there in the USA?
